The vintage chic ladies of Cheeky Vintage spills the beans: picking favorites, their pristine collection, and everything you want to know about fabulous vintage clothing!
As you walk into their boutique in Houston, a pink jewel box seems to embrace you like one of your dearest and stylish friend. This girlie atmosphere you’re experiencing is Cheeky Vintage, a combination of two true Southern fashionistas and a mutual love for vintage.
Here’s a sneak peak into the lives of Houston’s fashionable (and beautiful) Denise and Tina of Cheeky Vintage:
Daily Fashionistas: How did Cheeky Vintage begin?Denise: Tina and I met when our daughters were in the same pre-school class at 3-years-old. We are both creative, so we got involved with the PTA and worked on book fairs, auctions, and other projects. We started to be known as the “Tina and Denise” entity! We each collected vintage already. I found a great seamstress that understood vintage (which is very uncommon!) We started small, but this seamstress took our collection to a whole new level. We’ve just grown from there – recently with the launch of our website, www.CheekyVintage.com.
Daily Fashionistas: Tell us about your most treasured piece of Vintage.
Denise: An early 70’s long Valentino’s Jacket. It looks almost like lattice work where the underneath shows through and it looks absolutely gorgeous with a red or white ensemble underneath.
Tina:A cream colored culotte dress from the 60's by Donald Brooks. It has turquoise and coral beading around the neck creating a built in necklace effect! Denise: A fantastic long coat with a flower motif. The sleeves bow out to a point. We are looking for a tall person with a lot of confidence to wear this piece!
Tina: We just got a fabulous pair of Fredericks of Hollywood cork pumps with a stiletto heel and a gold border.
Daily Fashionistas: Tina how could you pass those up!?Tina: They are not my size!
Daily Fashionistas: What accessory could you never leave without?
Denise & Tina: A great handbag, absolutely!
These women are not only fashionistas and vintage aficionados, but they each have a very big heart. Every six weeks Cheeky Vintage hosts an opening at the shop featuring their latest vintage treasures. Denise and Tina always choose a different charity to receive a portion of the sales from their event.
They don’t think twice about giving back to the community. “We feel like that’s the way to live,” Tina said. The Cheeky Vintage Galleries have developed quite a following. Be sure to keep an eye out for their next fabulous event!
